Got stuck here, while working on a 3d charater
show user profile  Alex910
Hello,

This is my second attempt to make a character in 3ds max that i want to use in a video rendering for myl design thesis.
Just finished rigging(biped) and the hair which is a mesh, is ready too. How can I attach the hair to the body of my character (but to be separate), that when I move the biped's head, I want the hair to do the same? Also, I want to make the mesh of the hair to be blown by the wind... how can I do this?

I'm never did this what I'm going to do, if you can give me some tutorials and tips on how to do it...
btw... does cloth modifier works for what i want on the hair? Will it work on the top of the skin modifier?

Thank you!

"How can I attach the hair to the body of my character (but to be separate), that when I move the biped's head"

Easy....."Select and Link" the hair mesh to the bipeds head.

"does cloth modifier works for what i want on the hair? Will it work on the top of the skin modifier?"

Yes Cloth will work fine, doesn't matter about the skin modifier as the hair is linked directly to the bipeds head.

Set up your cloth objects, obviously make your hair mesh the cloth, use "SimNode" to lock the top of your hair mesh to the bipeds head -> select some verts, make group, click "SimNode" then select your bipeds head as the object to "glue" the verts to.
What you simnode stays locked to your head, what you don't simnode reacts to the cloth dynamics, where you can add forces like Wind using the "Cloth Forces" setup.

In short, if you find a tutorial on making a flag/wind animation in Max, just use the same method on your hair and select and link it to your animated object.
