Got my first studio job
show user profile  RedStar
So just like the title says; I have got myself my first studio job. After years of practice my 3D has finally paid off, or will?
I will be doing all of the paperwork tomorrow and hopefully be moving to Atlanta GA within the next few days.
I would like to give a huge huge thank you to Marko. I met this guy back when I was 14 years old. He gave me some realistic crits about a old Ferrari model of mine and me being so confident in my skills and not taking any real criticism I took it in a very bad manner. As I was 14 I even threatened Marko thinking I was "Gangster" lol.
So years passed and somehow I got in contact with him again. Ever since then he has been truly more of a mentor/friend to me then anything else. The guy has always spoke straight and never any bullshit. Always gave me a confidence boost and that my studio will come one day. Helped me out by throwing a few freelance project my way even. And now after the years have passed I am finally getting my first job at 21. (This is even the age he mentioned I should expect to get a job at) I am very greatly to have a friend like him, thanks a bunch for all the help man!

Well done!
I'm surprised it has taken this long... as I have thought your car modelling posted here was very high quality for at least a couple of years already.

You're only 21? I had you down as much older for some reason, you model like a seasoned pro man, a job is well deserved. Congrats.

Thanks a lot guys. Thanks for the kind words.
Yeah I modeled cars but thats about it lol. But this studio that I am getting the job with now, I have done some freelance work for them for several months modeling all kind of transformers (the actual robots not cars) and finally we come to a step where I join the team fulltime. I have a buddy over there who has really helped me as well to get noticed. Not sure if he is on the board here but his name is Brandon and his site is www.billa1.com

Again thanks a bunch to all you guys. I love the hard crits I got from this community in the past, I truly made my work what it is.
Tomororw I will have a grantee answer to whats going on. Marko mentioned it being a pretty sure thing as the boss man discussed this job with me over the weekend.

when they say they'll draw up the papers tomorrow and it's superbowl sunday... you can pretty much bet on having a formal job offer the day after.

like i told you earlier, really proud of you.

ahhh, now you've got your wings and your out of the nest... time to take this mentoring thing a bit larger in scale.

I too can't believe you're 21 either, I've always associated your name here with pretty sick (as in, good) car models. Grats on the job, hope everything runs smoothly.

Thanks for all of the warm words guys.
Well as far as I know for the start I will just be doing a bunch of hard surface modeling. I do want to start learning other things once I am out there, animation, rendering, etc. Figured a person with more skills would be a lot more valuable to a company than just somebody who models.

i'm sorry, your working on transformers.... are you working on the actual transformers brand, or bionics/ a similar robotic humanoid thing?

if your working on the actual transformers brand.... does that mean your new job is at ILM?

Congrats man! I wish I had the foresight to get stuck in at age 14... I'm 21 and nowhere near your level... hope the job is everything you want it to be - gratz
