Google chrome freezing
show user profile  stevey2shoes
Hi
I realise this is mundane but Google chrome keeps freezing, and its really starting to annoy me.
All the research I do suggests its add-ons and plugins that are crashing and stopping everything.
I've found a few links just by searching the internet, but I can never be sure if they are genuine or just a ploy to get you to download more viruses.
Can any one recommend a trustworthy fix please.
steve

P.S Its for a PC 64bit windows 7

CCleaner will clean out your cookies. I'm always amazed by how quickly they accumulate.

Or from their official website:

Also, from a recent thread: Chrome chews through your ram. Maybe try Firefox.

I installed that, and it got faster straight away,
All ive done since is re enter my password for YouTube and maxforums (because it deleted them, and its freezing again.
Saying that though, in that brief time when it was fast, Norton antivirus was saying it wasn't happy, as if this new download was overriding it, the computer then went onto standby, while I left it for a while, and when I came back, I had a note from Norton saying my pc is now tuned up (they spelt tuned wrong it should have been f*cked)
and now chrome is freezing again.

mmmmm,
Just after posting my reply I had a good look at my tool bar in Google chrome, and it had an entire ribbon dedicated to Norton antivirus, allowing me to buy more products from them, now I've stopped/closed this, and it seems OK.

Aren't Norton supposed to be there to keep your computer up to speed?
I often think that the people that write the antivirus software are the ones going round writing the viruses, otherwise what's the point of viruses other than to make you buy anti virus software.
THERE I SAID IT
