keep in mind this is just a slap comp, litterally one grade and a few lens effects... more work will go into really polishing these up tonight.

these are all moving, and there's accurate dof in work here so keep that in mind... ie they're not stills.

yes, this is nuke and its endless power.

gogo- since you're a bit new i'll tell you- Bolts, despite his huge appetite for drink, his aparrent shortness of patience sometimes and inclination towards talking bollocks when drunk is about as good as it gets
i'd be shocked if this didn't turn out to be nothing less than jaw dropping

look forward to seeing the animation, hard to really see the club real well from just those stills :) They look nice though!

speaking of compositing, i'm really happy with how little i need to do to these renders to get them where i want them...

Sir_Manny - I am sure Bolt's would have killed you, if you were standing near by him when you asked that question. I think Bolt's has Nuke for Breakfast, lunch, dinner :P

Keep it up Bolts, I am sure when we see the animation it would look really nice, than the motion stills.

Totally out of my depth here & I don't pretend to understand what's going on in the mixer (or whatever it is) above ... but ...

It looks like you have a high def. pipeline, but I see some tgas at the bottom, which are basic, 8 bit per channel maps. Shouldn't you be using exr throughout ? (the .tgas are crossed out (disabled?), so maybe this is what you're doing).

Asking 'cause I don't understand. Not trying to be a smart ass.

Thanks for showing your workflow.

the node at the bottom of everything is used to write out a tga sequence, which in their final state dont need to be exr's anymore as the compositing and use of additional information is finished... the nodes atop are the read nodes used to bring the files, which are exr... with nested render elements built into the same file.

that's why you see things such as the mutlimatte channels on the side, those masks are prebuilt and rendered right into the same file.

it's an incredibly powerful setup, nuke with nested exr's.

and no worries about the questions, i'm always up for explaining the work done. hell i might even publish the whole damn project from start to finish at the end of this since it's my work on the side technically.

Cheers.

Right, but then you lose all that high precision by dropping down to 8 bit prior to encoding to h264 (or whatever). It would be better to encode the wavelet stream directly from the high def output to remove inaccuracies introduced by switching down to 8 bit. That said, I do not know if any of the high end encoders accept exr input as I don't work in hi def (yet). Practicly speaking, maybe this wouldn't buy you enough of an increase in quality to be worth the effort. Don't know - just thinking out loud.
