Geosphere Collision
show user profile  xlunafreakx
I'm using 3ds Max 2011 and I'm trying to make a Bio dome with an entry way. Every time I try to put collision on to the bio dome and import it into udk and try to walk into the dome its blocked. On a different collision setting I can walk into the dome but I also can walk through the walls. How do I get the Collision set up so that I can walk in through the opening but not through the walls???

Yes the dome has an entry way for my character to walk through.

not totally sure what you mean so sorry of I'm off but can you put something inside the dome with transparent texture linked to the collision?

I've only recently started using the UDK, but does your collision model have a hole in it for your player to walk through? You'll have to probably use at least four collision meshes so you don't have concave faces, assuming it's a hemisphere.

As far as my understanding stretches, using a geosphere as your collision object would be extremely demanding on whatever engine you are using. It is common procedure to use a much more simplified object, typically a cube (or a group of cubes) to define the actual 'collision' of more complex objects. How this is handled within the UDK, I do not know.
