Game Programmers looking to hire a couple of artists
show user profile  theDONRabe
We are a pair of programmers looking to hire artists in the next few months for a project we are working on. We are pretty clueless when it comes to pricing (both hourly and per project amounts) and are throwing together a budget for the game. We were hoping to get some feedback on pricing and interest. Thank you for any help you can provide. The following is a basic list of assets needed for the game:

1 main character : 8 different directional animations for walking
1 weapon firing animation - Just a reactionary animation showing the player reacting to firing mini-gun
1 death animation (Minimum)
Note – player will always be holding the mini-gun so no models needed without weapon in hand

3 different enemies
1 walk animation each
1 attack animation each
1 death animation each
?possible spawn animation

3 different levels
1 door (Maybe different doors for each level if different style or feel to each level)
Ramp and second floor area for 3rd level
Possible spawn animations Breaking through walls, floor etc.

1 mini-gun
Spin-up animation
Spin-down animation

1 that we will recolor/texture appear different
Either no animation or a simple looping animation
Note – there will be 7-10 different power-ups may want slightly different models for each, but not necessary

HUD/Menu (2D assets)
Basic Menu items (Sliders, Buttons, Etc.)
HUD (Health type bar, Icons for power-ups, Spot for song tag and time, Red overlay for intensity, and a few other basics)

Got any concept art?
Any background story of the characters?
"Three different enemies" doesn't say a lot about what kind of enemies they are. What are their special abilities. What is each enemies unique features and so on?
Polygon budgets?
Texture budgets?
Style? Realism/stylized and so on?

Oh... and whats the pay?

Sir Manfred - I will pull that info together and post it up here in the next couple of days. Those are exactly the questions we wanted you guys to ask. We have been talking with a couple of artists, but they are employed and cannot do contract work. They gave us some ideas but they suggested that we post on this and a couple of different forum sites to get better info on what you guys would need in both direction and pay.

Advance-software - Did that before coming on here but the majority of the pay rate sites and articles base off of lots of different factors. We came to this forum to try and get better and real information from the freelancers/contractors themselves. Cute though.

Ignore AS, he forgets that public forums are used to communicate.

You might just want to head on over to though, you'll get a better response there.

it's a little light hearted humour that provided the information requested.

your best effort, gary-not-actually-called-dave-has-an-xmas-sig-in-the-middle-of-summer-with-snowboards-with-wheels-on-it was to point out neither side knew something, which was already known. well done einstein.

I provided the information requested yet you suggest my input should be ignored.

agree polycount is a good source for game artists.

Yes, we are all children here. Welcome to maxforums Brandon !

I personally thought Daves' sig was a cocaine party. The one on the right is clearly a stripper.
