Game Animations
show user profile  robbyd
Hi guys,

I am a 3ds Max user and I use character studio to animate my characters. I am looking for standard game animations to drop in (bips). I have some walk and run cycles, but I need more character gestures and general animations. Does anyone know where I can find some for free or purchase?

My ideal solution would be to buy a DVD or something with hundreds of game animations on there for a standard biped.... any suggestions?

Cheers, Rob.

Excellent! Even better if they are free :) I've tried googling, but struggled to find anything. Thanks for the help.

YOUR BEST BET:
100 free ones here:
http://www.freemotionfiles.blogspot.com/

scroll to that truebonesDOTcom link down low.

Then buy me that mocap suit above it!

Just so I can walk around town in it looking fly!

Damn I'd look cool in that walking around ...shit!

Here's one:

and here's the one with many:

It's been a while but you have to convert them or import them or something....been a while like I said.
I don't use biped....bones are better...way better and I use Motion Builder....great pipeline.

Some great sites, thankyou! I will experiment with some of them.

The only trouble with these are, they are motion capture. They dont start and finish in the same pose. I am trying to get some 'game' animations which I can use in my games, such as walk/run/idle cycles.

Have you seen any of those around at all?

Thanks, Rob.

I'm going to play around with the 100 free motion capture ones, see how I get on.

I'll look into getting you a suit :)))

Stupid question - can't you just rig a skin over a biped (using the biped nodes as bones) so you get to be able to drop standard mo-cap data over a fancy skinned character ?

Thanks for the links.

Biped can be used just the same as bones for skinning, yes. Any object can be used as bones for that matter.
