gah painful deformations

I followed daves tutorial
trying to do everything; but because of time constraints namely having to rig 3 characters; two of them not so simple by friday I opted to skip the section of IK rig, splines reaction manager and wire param right too skinning.

Thing is it works, but I have painful deformations of the shoulders which makes it really, really difficult to pose the damn things. Any quick simply fixes? its just for a still image.

If it's for a still, you don't have time and need a quick fix, whats wrong with vertex pushing? Just cheat

it looks like crap when I do that haha; I guess i am going to have to suck it up and do it; then photoshop the results.

Pretty much what Horizon said - pose it, then tweak individual vertex weights with the Bone Tools for the vertices that are out of place.

If you haven't already, check out Ancient Pig's deformation tut on the member tuts page.. very useful .
Also when modelling your character's arms keep in mind what the clothing would look like with the arms in a more relaxed, normal position - As you have the model above , the 'hanging fabric' under the arm will verry quickly start to crush into the torso geometry when you rotate the arm downwards... giving the shitty deformations you speak of.

Yeah man- too much geo in the sleeves, not enough in the shoulder (deformation hot spot). It's not Gary's tutorial that's at fault, it's your geo layout :/
