Fusion 7 free!
show user profile  ijzerman
He guys, have you noticed the news that blackmagic just released the new Fusion 7 for free?

The paid version offers these features "Fusion 7 Studio adds features such as optical flow tools for retiming, stabilisation and stereoscopic 3D production, support for third party OpenFX plug ins, and distributed network rendering."

It looks like awesome software. What a polished set of tools and great interface. Seems like it's got great node-based editing and a powerful renderer behind it. I wish I understood what it's for.

Amazing to see this for free. Downloading.

In other news, Autodesk have revised prices again, rather than working on the software, but have promised that next year's version will be awesome.

I was thinking about learning Nuke, since we do have a license laying around. Especially when they offered a free version for non-comercial use (fun to play around with at home). However, now with Fusion (which I've dabbled with before) offering a really competent free version (which you also can use comercially), I've decided to dig down into it. Hopefully finally replacing AE. Gonna play around with deep exr's and volumetrics and see what can be done =)

Same here, i am a bit weary(correct english?) of running into a limitation pretty soon but i guess i have to try it out see how it goes.

I dont believe them anymore, i personally think of switching to modo :S

Would definitely be good to replace after fx!

Might be annoying not having any openfx support..

Here's a thought though... If you don't need a permanent solution, you could be using Nuke's free non commercial version, and then rent it when you need it?

Interesting ways of licensing software these days
