FumeFX help
show user profile  DanielSebastian
I just got my hands on FumeFX, it's looks like a great plugin, though I can't seem to get ANY kind of result when I finish ANY of the tutorials I've found. The preview window renders all the frames, but all of them are just black and empty. Anyone know what I might've done wrong, some sort of INCREDIBLY importand option I have to check for the whole thing to work?

(Sorryy for posting double, but I wmispelled FumeFX so I had to correct it, the only way was to repost)

ROFL you are unbelievable.

You cant even simply extrude a logo into 3d even after explenations and a link to youtube movies. You end up using some toy that no doubt gave a crappy result but appearantly it was good enough for you. And now you want to play with FumeFX?

Are you daft? (hmm since you wrestle that may count as a rhetorical question)

I'm sure you having fun, but I PROMISE you I'd kick your ass if it came to it...
Now can you please give me an answer that I can actually USE, not that I'm not greatful, but I'm sure you did'nt learn MAX in rwo weeks either, I'm just trying to learn, and you learn by asking questions and trying out and explore different stuff.
Can anyone who KNOW FumeFX give me some clue?

Get the hint. If you are unable to extrude a logo into 3d you can FORGET about FumeFX. Not being mean. Some rules of logic cant be broken mate.

Im certain your real tough. Why dont you choose a real sport to display your toughness? Would stop people mocking with you. Even if you'd came over and crunch me (which you may or may not succeed in since i actually do kickboxing although just do it to keep myself fit and not professionally) id still think you were a tool afterward. The outcome of the fight would do little to change that. :)

Why dont you surprise me and actually go do some tutorials like normal people do. How about that? Did you learn to do all those moves the first time you went training? Why do you think learning something besides wrestling is so different. Are you so thick you think computers are one button wonders? Come on. Show some effort first. Then the help will pour in.

Also the fact that you downloaded a stripped down version that didnt come with the helpfiles is not our problem. Its yours.

Wow. I really hate to see a guy struggling like this, but... I'm not even sure what help I could give :/

Unless you're going to be purely an effects artist, or working on a scene that really only needs FumeFX (which I've done before), you should not be attempting to use that plugin yet. And it should also definitely have a manual, in Help > Additional Help...

This software is extremely powerful, but it takes a while to get used to. Start simple.
Specialty: Non-organic modelling and effects.
Setup: 3D Studio 2010 with finalRender.
Rig: No, no I can't.

Ow come on. ^_^

All he needs to do is show some effort and do some tuts.

We all know he wont.

As far as wrestling. I still think its a ridiculous showsport. You being able to beat me to pulp or not has very little to do with that. Im certain in physical prowess you far outrank me. Im also certain those wrestling moves are really hard to do and very taxing on the body. Its just beyond me how it can appeal to anyone but kids. But hey; tastes differ.

There i gave you some respect for the sport you do professionally. Ill drop it (or ill expect to be jumped upon from a ring corner; better stay away from fighting rings). Now show us your "serious" about putting your logo on flames with FumeFX and you'll get your help. :)

dont make me pummel all of you...

fumefx is just about the easiest thing to set up, make a bounding box for the calculations, put a source in there and tada! run the calculation

if your doing the tutorials and can read... you should be able to get something in under 30 seconds.

Forget about the wrestling thing, whatever...

I really AM serious, I'm reading tutorials ALL OVER THE PLACE until my face gets some weird orangy looking color... It's not that I don't know what to do in FumeFX, just that no matter what I do I don't get ANY result, no flames, no smokwe, no nothing. And I'm sorry I'm a little green, but I'm really not THAT stupid thinking MAX is a little toy anyone can learn in a couple of hours, but I try and fail, read tuts and explore things bits and pieces, that's my way of learning. That's also why I bother asking questions cuz I believe that you guys here know the drill better than I, and I'm just asking for pointers, not wrap me in diapers and say that I'm not serious enough, or that I don't care enough. I'm here to LEARN the game, not piss on it...

My problem is that no matter what FumeFX tut I follow, I can't see anything in the preview window...

Can you help or not?

An Omni light should be fine. As long as it's set up in FumeFX as an active light.

Go to this link here:

Go to FumeFX tutorial #1. That is the only FFX tutorial I've ever needed (so far).
Specialty: Non-organic modelling and effects.
Setup: 3D Studio 2010 with finalRender.
Rig: No, no I can't.
