Fume FX
show user profile  kiko
Hi everyone, so I got a dount about this plugin, I've been following the tutorial (http://www.3dtotal.com/team/Tutorials_3/fumefx/fumefx01.asp) with no luck so far, the best result i can ever get is a lot of smoke (i pressume it is smoke because of its whiteness) and a little bit of yellow color on the emitting object, i can't understand whts is going wrong for the sake of me.
If anyone has any suggestions I'll be most grateful

By the way, the settings I used are the same as the ones shown in the tutorial.

Cheers,
-- David --

this is the best result so far, doesn't look like fire at all, more like a blending of different colors...

any suggestions would be very appreciated.

cheers. -- David --

I don't get how people find this plugin so hard to use.

It's like the easiest fluids evvvvvvvvvvvver.

Read the tutorials that come with it again.

Have you checked each of your settings against the tutorial?

There is now way for us to know exactly what is wrong as each setting will modify a different aspect of your simulation. It could be a matter of your lighting not setup properly, you could have your renderer all buggered up. You could have your noise map too high. We can't see your settings or open up your max file so it's hard for us to say exactly what is wrong.

Allan McKay's FumeFX Tutorial #1 - located >here< - is the only tutorial I've needed to get the plugin off the ground.

It puzzles me that people pay 845 USD for a plugin and don't bother to use all the benefits they get with that price. Just login to afterworks.com members support area and ask there. You paid for the support - why not use it ?

When's the last time you paid for something that expensive, when you had absolutely no clue how to use it, or even if it was what you were looking for at all?

This is why demos were invented.

When I bought 3dsmax... about 5000 €
To my knowledge the demo version of FumeFX is by request only ?!

looks like you just don't have enough samples.
Try making your grid smaller and wait for ages till it finishes calculating.

Thanks to everyone who replied, i appreciate it.

dejitarujin: thanks for the link, ill be sure to chech it out

kajico: i did check all of my settings against the ones in the tutorial, maybe its got something to do with the renderer since i used vray, could that be the issue? used the omnilight with default settings and vray shadows

no, your an idiot...

if you actually read the tutorials, you'd have a fine time with it. out of the box, fumefx is one of the easiest things to use as long as you read through the tutorials step by step.

if you actually have, then just as well give up on 3d cause you dont have the mental capacity to do much anything anyway.

Riiiiight... anyone with HELPFUL suggestions? (of course I read the tutorial Dub, it's just that it was not helpful).

pompous ass.

now where did that just come from?

i cant recall talking to you Bolteon, at all!

i just wanted to get something to work and i did thanks to dejitarujin and kajico's advice and i am grateful to them, helpful people around this forums.

might as well ignore you cause you seem to be the kind of guy who ruins everything for everyone else, you know you are good at 3d, maybe too good for yourself and you automatically think you can be an ass to everyone else... now who is the pompous ass?

and im not quiting max just cause i got some difficulties with a plugin, in fact i think i keep getting better at it.

anyways this thread is closed, thanks to everyone who helped :) -- David --
