Free OBJ viewer recommendations
show user profile  jStins
Hi guys. I have a client that needs to view some OBJ files, but does not currently have 3D software installed on their system. A Google search yields a lot of results, but I was hoping someone here may have experience with a viewer and some recommendations.

Something simple and free would be ideal. Thanks.

/edit: Forgot to mention... the client is on OSX.

Damn... what was that website we were all playing with a little while back? Might not be ideal for "sensitive information" mind you.

can't help you on osx at the moment. our stuff's windows only for now.

& don't currently support obj - just our own .xsg format, exported from max.

you should be able to find a browser based webgl app that'll do that.

had a quick look around & there's plenty out there. take your pick.

this one's progressing well : http://p3d.in

no idea what the deal is with .obj with that app. might have to convert.

There are quite a few options, the most convenient of which being web `applications` that can be viewed from within the browser. There`s an openGL example being mucked around with in this thread:

http://www.maxforums.org/threads/p3d_realtime_modelviewer/0001.aspx

And some other flash-based one`s too ( which are getting pretty good, Unreal Engine is now ported to Flash ffs! )..

There`s browser plugins like Unity also doing the same stuff.
