Where can I find free music/loops to add to animations / showreels?
show user profile  CAD Monkey
Hi Guys,

As above really - I'd like to jazz up some of the animations I'm working on with some music etc. and wondered if you guys had any sites that you use for this stuff?

Any suggestions gratefully received!

Cheers,

Stewart

I doubt you find it useful but all music made before 1923 can be used free of charge.
Otherwise just google 'royalty free music' or something similar and i'm sure you will find some.

If I was any good at creating music I would propose to make something for you but I'm sure you can get better free music from ppl who actually know what they're doing.

Mobygratis.com

Info from Moby:

hi,
i'll keep this brief.
this portion of moby.com, 'film music', is for independent and non-profit filmmakers, film students, and anyone in need of free music for their independent, non-profit film, video, or short.
to use the site you log in(or on?) and are then given a password.
you can then listen to the available music and download whatever you want to use in your film or video or short.
the music is free as long as it's being used in a non-commercial or non-profit film, video, or short.
if you want to use it in a commercial film or short then you can apply for an easy license, with any money that's generated being given to the humane society.
i hope that you find what you're looking for,
moby

You could try soundcloud, I have alot of friends that post up their music on it. If you message people they might let you use their music, as it will give both of you exposure.

One of my old flatmates works. There is a lot of amateur stuff floating around, I am sure if you threw people a message if you found something you liked in a lot of cases people would let you use their music if they were credited.

I usehttp://audiojungle.net/

You can get decent samples from $5 up... they are all categorised and can be easily previewed. If you add credit, you get the stock cheaper, and they also have affiliate sites where you can get stock video/images/models etc...

Umm.. What happens if I wanted to use a popular song? I thought it would be cool to use some fatboy in my reel...

Do I need to email the producers and ask or is there another way to go aboot it?

I know this was asked some time I ago, but I forget.

Well , the producer / author gonna be able to delete your video , if they don't like the fact you use it . But first at all they have to find it ...

For exxample , xRay Dog inc. deleted from you tube all of those videos what had any suggestion to the label or what it even is .

Congrats, you found my signature.
