A free 3ds max render farm?
show user profile  LOL500
So does such a thing exists?

I`ve been googling and I saw a lot of discussions about making this happen but unfortunately I haven`t came across one yet.

But suppose there a secret place out there that I`m not aware of?

What are the possibilities of say... some kind of cloud/shared resource similar to that folding@home (protein folding thing)
- where a render task is split into chunks/parts (buckets?), encrypted, send across the interwebs, rendered, and sent back to the guy wanting his scene rendered? Like some sort of swarm/torrent client except for getting shit rendered? People would need v-ray, 3ds max, i-ray or whatever applicable render engine is being used, but the standalone client could run in the background and allow players to turn it 'on' or 'off' when they wish to share their resources.

Users could maybe clock render time by sharing their CPU time on this network and then spend it themselves by using the resource?

AS? Anyone?

edit: copyright pending viability.

rendering across multiple machines is what a farm does. need sufficient licenses on all the equipment & the gubbins to enable users to submit jobs, etc.

fortunately for you, Fox renderfarm has prepared all this for you. It's not free, but you can get $20 credit once you register.

then, whilst your job's being rendered, why not head over to
& see if you can win back the cost of it, thus winning your elusive free render.
