Fluorescent Tube Lighting

I am trying to get some cylinders to look like fluorescent lighting in a garage. I do not need to have then be visible themselves, I just want them to light the scene and have it bounce off the floor and help illuminate the area under a car that is on jackstands.

Any suggestions?

using self illuminating materials will need more renderpower to get clean lowlights then using just a normal cylindrical or planar area light.

I just faked it and I think it turned out alright.

Click on my sig and go to the portfolio page. It is the one on the bottom. I need to re-render to get rid of the "flickering" of the light on the walls though. I also need to fix the final location of the feet so they actually rest on the floor. Maybe add a second or two of still frames at the end too.

I think I need to up the bounces. Maybe add more photons. I am using Mental Ray at the moment since I do not have access to VRay. I do want to learn it though.
