Flicker in FumeFX object render
show user profile  gyster
Hey, it's me with yet another unsolved mystery. I've set up a scene with a plane, a biped holding a shovel, a couple of plants proxied about the scene, some grass, and two fumefx containers, and associated particle generators. Basically, the biped walks about 15 paces plants the shovel in the ground, turns his head, cut to distance - big explosion. Everything looks ok except one of the FumeFx objects. I set up this one much in the same fashion as the first except I don't want fire, so I did not simulate fuel. I saved the renders as tiffs, and when I viewed them in ram player, the fumefx without fuel flickers, probably with each new frame. I saved the ram player to an avi and the flicker is still there. I'm using vray 2 and max 2012. Anyone have any ideas on what I've got goofed up?

Are you making Bill and Ben the Flower Pot Men: Nuclear Holocaust Edition? :)

Can't help you I'm afraid. Or maybe I just did.

Nah...not much I can do with that. I did however resolve the problem by rendering time-interpolated irradiance maps.
