Fire without plug-ins - possible?
show user profile  qaz
Is it possible to create believable (not photo-realistic) flames in 3DS Max, without FumeFX or any other plug-ins?
If yes, where could I find some tutorials or some examples on this?

You can find a bunch of particle tutorials here, including fire ones. http://www.allanmckay.com/site/index.php/legacy-tutorials

@ Octopuzzy: All the fire tutorials were FumeFX only.

16th tutorial down the page:
'Particle Flow: Creating Particle Based Flames
Tutorial on creating flames using just particle geometry'

Will you be alright or maybe someone should do the tutorial for you?

I made this with particles and vray a while back... Mental ray worked better though to get a fire effect with the materials and falloff opacity..
