Maxunderground news unavailable

how do I "fill" a road surface containing only the sides?

This is driving me mad.. I have this:

It's a closed spline, now I want to fill it so it looks like the grey areas in this;

But I don't know how, or what software to use. It doesn't matter what format it is, as long as I can convert it back to a dwg or similar. It's not going to be edited, just show existing road..

hope someone can help

Was just going to say, "surface modifier ffs," then I saw your pic. Sure, surface modifier will work, you just have to connect it all up to be made of 4-sided splines (using refine-connect) but that's a lotta work.

Try adding an "extrude" modifier, then add a "cap holes" modifier (check that it works nicely, else you'll have to cap each hole manually). Then create a plane and use proboolean to subtract the extruded shape from it.

Ok. shapemerge on a plane, then fixing it, and conforming that to a terrain.. (because the spline was not flat)
That should work.

But first I will see if Rhino has some magical way of doing it..

Shapemerging in rhino, and then trimming away the unwanted surface.. Rhino is great
