FFD Cyl orientation

I assigned an FFD Cyl to an egg shape and the orientation is wrong. When I rotate it 90* then the control points shape is oblong. How do I change the orientation keeping with the shape of the object?

FF to 1:30 in this clip to see what I mean. The FFD cyl has the right ordination when assigned but mine is set at right angle (90*). WTH?

expand the modifier options and click "lattice." Now rotate it, scale it, warp it, whatever, till it's aligned and fitted nicely, then click "control points" and go from there.

I tried that earlier but was hoping for a quick 'snap' to object.

Maybe if I leave the other FFD off until I do this one

I got it. There is a reorient button but it doesn't work so that the point distance is even all around the object.

It needs work, like transparency in the light, corrugation in the base, refraction in the globes and a environmental map to reflect
