I don't want to be a dick about it, because it's free, which is good. So I signed in and downloaded a chair and this is what it looks like with wireframe on:

Yes, those black lines are not a pattern, they're the wires. Now I'm genuinely curious how or why an object would be created with that type of mesh. Is it scanned in? Or boolean'ed? Also, besides maybe increasing render times, would there be an issue if an object had wires like this? Should I even care what the wireframe looks like, or am I being pedantic?

I'm sure it will have an effect. I remember using a chair model direct from a furniture supplier since the interior designer requested it, and one chair done what an entire scene couldnt and pretty much brought the computer to a stand still. Obviously it depends how bad it is and what hardware you have but yeah if its bad enough it make your life more difficult.

This model is free, hi-polygonal, There are plenty of models with minimum of polygons!

That model is free and originally from the Fritz Hansen website. I think the 3d furniture people aren't even offering their own furniture.
Just model your own stuff. It's easy.
Yeah Archvis people can't model :P. Just take a look at this guys work:http://bertrand-benoit.com/blog/2012/04/09/eames-photoshoot/

Well, it's a library of free resources, hardly spam. Also the model on the Fritz Hansen site seems to be slightly different (there's a handle sticking out the bottom which is not on the 3dfurniture model. It also looks slightly thicker on the Fritz site, but that could be my eyes playing tricks).

Sure it's the same type of chair... but a quick google for "3d model Egg chair by Arne Jacobsen" will yield a few places where you can get that model.

I don't get what your problem is really, it's just another resource for arch-viz people. If they're doing anything shady that you can undeniably prove, then you'd let the original author/s know about it.

so they're potentially shady but their slim's not necessarily shady.

no doubt all the others are just imitating.

I downloaded the ball chair. There are loads of missing materials and it's set up for Vray.

Seems like a good resource though. If it's spam, it's welcome spam, surely?

Sorry for being so cranky. I guess SPAM is relative as well as what is "useful".

Looks like a fairly decent resource for models why complain although i`d imagine those prices will go back up to ( what is a low cost anyway ) price.

Bertrand's site is linked to his Turbosquid account.
