What to factor in when quoting on a 3d 1 min. animation ( time lapsed fly thru) of enginereed site

Never having done this before, can someone give me advise on aspects I need to take into account when quoting on this project...A landscaped site (remediation) showing tree growth over a 50 year period with one minute flythru. Thanks

formula i use for bidding:

PPLRCE

prep (asset modeling, asset induction, etc)
previs
lighting
rendering
compositing
everything else

figure out how much your time is worth per day; add up all the day's for the above tally and multiply.

".....having never done this before...."...
So should we include money for you to get really good at MAX?
Or should we assume you already are and approach our estimate like you are a professional 3D artist.....ofcourse if you are a professional, you wouldn't be asking how to bid this.........

"Never having done this before" do you mean, haven't bid for work of this nature before, or never done 3d max before?

the 2 are different questions that can have 2 very different aspects to your query.

if your competent in max but never done a time lapse style vid then fine. Just get your thinking cap on. thrash out with your client the particulars, ie, visual style, image pixel size, intended output, degree of realism, time scales, additions/amends, computing power, your experience and skill, your geographic location (these last 2 have massive relevance on costings) etc etc etc . All of this info, together with your knowledge of max, should give you a good idea where to base a price on.

if, on the other hand, your max knowledge is almost non existent, then in all seriousness i'd farm this project out to someone else and just manage the project. Stuff is hard enough as it is even if you know what you're doing.
