Extruded face smoothing
show user profile  cartwright_mj
Create>cylinder(smooth)>convert to editable poly. When I select the cap face and extrude, the new sides are faceted, not smooth. I can put this right with 'auto-smooth', but why doesn't it (or can it) inherit the smoothing from the parent??
Thanks

Mike

If it did inherit the parent's smoothing then it would look bad as you'd need to add support edges to tighten the smoothing between 90 degree angles. I guess they did it this way to not confuse noobs.
