EXR problem
show user profile  joelr
hello all,

using vray and trying to figure out the benefits of exporting to exr.
im using this tutorial to learn (giving respect....):

the problem is that im doing exactly what im supposed to do but im getting a exr file that i cant open in photoshop (it says that the file is not an image file).
buy the way, if your asking, im using the demo of proexr.

anyway, does anyone here have any idea why this heppens?
it would be great having one file opening up in photoshop with all the elements already in it...

thanks in advance,

can you at least open exr's without the exr plugin using anything higher or including cs2?

if i render a scene and save directly as exr, there is no problem opening in photoshop.
but when i try to save with all the different elements inside, and open it in photoshop it gives me the error of it not an image file...

there are two ways to save out the exr's, either through the vray render panel; you put in a location and filename and it saves it out there (using this way the render elements are baked into the file)

you save it out by hitting the save image button located in the vray frame buffer, using this meathod only saves out the rgb and alpha.

so if you can open a file saved by both those methods, then its the plugin that's screwing up your loading it into photoshop.
