Editing object cordinates in bulk
show user profile  magarlick
Hey folks. I have a scene in which I would like to reverse the y axis position of every object, i.e. multiply by -1. Is this at all possible, preferably without using a script (which I have no clue about).

Thanks a lot.

one way is to select the bunch of items, group, modify pivot to y=0, mirror across y plane, ungroup

Thanks, that seems to work for several of the objects, but some are still not being mirrored logically.

Too bad you don't like maxscript.
Otherwise, you could select your objects and type
for obj in selection do (addModifier (mirror mirror_axis:1; collapseStack obj)
in the listener.
;)

Thanks, folks.

Garp, it isn't that I don't like maxscript, it's more that I just haven't really looked at it so it means nothing to me. Actually I am not afraid of a bit of code, so maybe it will be worthwhile investigating it. I know php, for example. Anyway, I tapped that snippet into the listener, but then what do I do? I assume I have to execute it somehow?

Cheers.

Press enter :)

edit: my bad, there's a variable and a parenthese missing! Here:
for obj in selection do (addModifier obj (mirror mirror_axis:1); collapseStack obj)

Well, both should work.

The confusion is that I edited my last post (with the correct code) 22 seconds before he answered. So he didn't see it.
