dwg export
show user profile  zeefusion
I am trying to export a dwg from max, but it only seems to export an orthographic view from above. No matter what view I have in the viewport upon export.

Any way to get around this?

you want to export a 3d model out of max into autocad?

no just the screen shot line data, but it only seems to export a particular view from above but i want it from below.

so you got a camera or perspective view of your 3d model and you want that view in flat (2d) vector or line format only for autocad?

well DWG wont do that. DWG is a full 3d environmental drawing format.

you want to take a 'snap shot' of your view to be converted to 2d vector format. Exporting wont just do that (i dont think). i'm a bit out of the loop with the particulars of max these days, but even so, i cant think of a quick easy solution to your issue, other than screen grabbing and tracing vectors over your screen grab (in acad). things like AI format are traditionally a good vector format.

You can export a dwg from max as a vector line i have just done it but problem is it only exports a particular view. Sorry if that wasn't clear

No matter what view i have in max it always exports the same one.

it's only exporting your model as a vector line model because autocad (or more rather the DWG format) doesn't understand Max's 3d object properties. it never has. it only takes the base lines of objects in 3d space. hense only the plan view is working (as it should)

it doesn't export as plan it exports as a 3 quarter view but from above. I need it from below.
