Dual GTX 970's in SLI vs Single GTX 980

Pro's - Cons?
Mainly interested in GPU performance forviewport and Adobe Mercury Engine

Ordered a 980......now wondering if I shouldnt return it and get 2 970's and run them in SLI.....however I am not that familiar with the ins and outs - pros/cons of SLI setups....

(off to google that while I see if anyone here has some additional experience/insight)

thx!

If the last generation is of any indication, SLI should be pretty care free. gtx 970 is considerably better value.. then again maybe you want to drop in another 980 at some point.

I'm not familiar with the adobe thing but for max viewport - even a single 970 is overkill.

I think the 900 series GTX use wayyy less juice than previous cards.
System has 825W PS

And now AMD announced price-cuts on the R9 series. R9 290X was cut by 27% and 290 by 25%

I thought the next generation AMD cards was delayed to Q1/Q2 2015?

afaik no official statement either way but it's already late given that they started manufacturing the same time as maxwell
