Currently I have a motorola triump through Virgin mobile... 1 ghz processor and I love it! Google seems to be super progressive with their software development ideas adn I think andriod will soon take over the market (over the iphone).

With v-mobile I pay 25 dollars a month for 300 anytime minutes, unlimited data and unlimited text.. I was thinking about getting a skype account to have unlimited minutes too (but with a different phone number than my cell)..

V-mobile is now charging 35 dollars am month for the plan that I am on (I got grandfathered in to my price)..

service is ok, but for 25 dollars a month I am not complaining.

i had the same question at the beginning of the year. I got the HTC thunderbolt and am happy with it. it's 4G and runs Flash which is one of the reasons i didn't choose the I phone. My 2 sisters and brother got the iphone so i've had the chance to work with both. They both have their benefits, but since mine was for work and i use it for flash websites, the iphone was out for me.

I've had 3 droid phones....since the droid 1 came out. They are great,
But I am getting an Iphone next.

Why? Accessories. The iphone form factor is supported by and endless amount of accessories and docks and cases...etc.e.tc.
Android phones will never be supported the same way.....ever. There are too many hardware form factors,.....that change constantly. Hell...they even change them within the same friggin line.

And my 2 cents....Iphone seems a bit more responsive.

Samsung Galaxy S2 here. I love it. It's my second Android phone. I have no complaints.

>>Iphone seems a bit more responsive.

Depends on which device you are comparing it to. Friends have iPhones, and my phone wipes the floor with them. I think the iPone has better 3D capabilities though, but that's not what I bought the phone for.

if you want to fiddle and customise to the hilt, then droid.

if you want a restrictive closed system with minimal customisation abilities, the iphone.

i know which i'd choose any day of the week :)

iphone 5 just about to launch. check that out if you want something posh.

I have a cheapo old thing that I won't give a rats ass about if I lose it.

expensive toys are fun but more hassle. it's a phone. my computer is on my desk.

Each to their own. I need quite a bit of connectivity and functionality that comes with me, as part of my job, and I don't always need to carry a laptop now. Also, I like having access to useful apps and the occasional pass-time without having to turn the PC on. Isn't it great that we have choice.

Here's my advice for choosing:

If you like to tinker a bit. You like having full control over your device. You want it to use it's memory, like a memory stick. You want to have widgets on the "desktop" then Android might be what you need.

If you use itunes, and want a device that works (mostly) well with it, and don't want too many tinkering options, and are happy with a main screen that's just a bunch of icons then the iPhone might be for you.

Android has awesome Google integration. If you are a user of Google's services, it really is a pleasure. All my contacts are automatically put on the phone because of this. When I upgraded to the new phone, I simply tapped in my Google password, and all my contacts and apps were automatically added to the new phone. If I lost the phone, no big deal. Tap my password in to a new one, and all the stuff is magically there. This is awesome.

For me, having proper multitasking, widgets on the main screen (weather, time, news feeds, and many other things like system controls, quick shortcuts to my main stuff, contacts, sites and programs) and not having to use iTunes to get music on to the device makes the difference, and is why I'd always choose Android. You can make it exactly the phone you want.

The iPhone only has a bunch of icons as it's main screen, which you can move around, and change the wallpaper.

But, many, many people love the iPhone. They are nice devices and the iPhone 5 has a better camera and a few new tricks. Wait a month, if you think you might want an iPhone.

tried both, didn't like either

this is what i upgraded to

interestingly enough it's smaller, lighter, has better reception, battery lasts 5x longer and costs way less - superior phone all around!

Ah, but can it play HD whale porn?

Everybody has different needs. I would never "tell" somebody what to choose. A robust phone that has a long charge has definitely got a place in this world. I have a work phone that is similar. I haven't charged it for six months, and it still works (it's usually switched off, obviously!)

Here's my current Apple rant.

My son has an ipod Touch (an iPhone 4 without the phone). He's bought loads of apps and music. iTunes forced an update on the device when it was plugged in the other day. The update failed and bricked the device.

To fix the device, a factory reset is needed. iTunes has now "forgotten" that my son has purchased all this stuff, and he can't get all the music back. It turns out it wasn't backing up the music, when it said it has been. The apps are linked to your account, but you only get one pop at getting the music.

So, my ten year old son has lost two years of music purchases from iTunes gift vouchers he's had for birthdays and christmas. Apple have just shrugged. My son was in tears, and no longer wants any Apple products. Nice one Apple. With the money you have....

If they weren't in a locked-down format and Apple weren't such control freaks, my son would be happily using their products. You have no standard access to the files on the system, and the music is encrypted.

Thanks Steve Apple.

Nope. The big Apple announcement was a slightly better camera and a better battery. No iPhone 5 yet.

I've hated Apple ever since I bought a Digidesign001 DAW back in 2000 and them OSX came out
and they didn't support the previous Digidesign hardware or software.
So trade in the Digidesign001 for like $200 and get an 002 was Apple's advice.
I paid $1200 for the 001.

I kept my OS9 machine for another 4 years just to use my outdated system.

pricks

So I'm leaning toward Android.
