He is a legend. I've got nearly every game he's worked on. I'll be backing this for sure.

My two boys love the DoubleFine logo sting at the beginning of BrutalLegend. Feel that is a very underrated game for what it is they really nailed the concept.

Somehow, considering how many backers that backed with A LOT of money I kind of suspect that they had these backers already, thought that putting it on kickstarter and getting a lot of money in a short time would give great viral publicity and make sure people contributed more money in the end.

Then again, I'm all over this like an addict on crack!

wow, the inventor of monkey island and DOT. Plus the in-development criticism to help filter out all the shit that seems to have failed other modern point and click.

I think its going to be pretty awesome.

He who says it cannot be done is interrupting the man doing it.

Psychonauts is okay, and I think there're tons of adventure games like this that is way much better. I played wolverine and Alice, and probably because of the violence I like both latter games better.

I dunno about Costume Quest

But nevertheless double fine is bunch of awesome guys, I read an article about a kid who got this brain tumor or something, visited double fine office then after the operation he got a "get well soon" card signed by each and every double fine crew, designed specially by the artist.

That is customer relation at its best.

Because of that particular article, I favor them so much, even tho their game isn't exactly my taste, so might be helping aswell.

It "annoys" me that people are only remembering things like Psychonauts, that is not an adventure game, it is a platformer. The new game... whatever it may be called, now about 400% funded is to be an adventure game... y'know, the kind that are hinted at in the video they made? Even a worded reference to "point and click adventure games aren't dead!"... it does not come more obvious than that.

We should be expecting a new type of Loom, Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, etc etc. Think "Ron Gilbert in the days when Lucas Arts didn't abandon the cause". Those are adventure games!

Always loved Schafer, for whatever criticisms you can level at any of his games they've always offered something 'different' conceptually, whether it's by way of setting or game mechanics. And he's always had a ridiculous pool of talent for such a small studio. People have left Pixar to go work with him, such is his pulling power.

The kickstarter success is pretty interesting, though. I wonder if more games studios that have struggled with much-loved IP that publishers have turned their noses up at might start jumping on the bandwagon. Even for some of those cancelled TV shows that have failed to get back on the air after huge petitions might find a home for funding this way.

Having Gilbert on board and some glimmer of the legendary and hilarious SCUMM days again gets me all giddy with excitement!
