Do I use FFD (box) to shape this into this...?
show user profile  Spear Chuck
I've got as far as modeling the green Michigan St and merged them into one mesh, now I need to soft selection and move or use FFD? I'm lost as to how to move it to fit the green.

I modeled a spline rectangle with a corner radius of 10 to round the corners and used a sweep with a custom spline shape to extrude the white areas.

Now I need guidance on how to shape it like the pic.

Personally, I would have used the photo to trace the spline needed, and skipped the whole FFD thing. Sohuld only take half an hour.

Why didn't you use a texture for the Michigan St logo? Makes zero sense to model it if it's a flat surface.

manually draw splines?! madness. surely garp can write a script that reads the black pixels in the image to generate a spline for you. Or better yet, FX can probably find one that's already been made.

noobz.

Spear, you're being completely redundant. If you make a bitmap of your shape to make a texture, you're just wasting your time. Completely. And getting a worse result than creating that logo in PS or Illustrator using vectors.

[edit] would post another reply, but I'm getting confused with this whole workflow. Saw the update below and the sign clearly wasn't traced at all since it's all wrong... and maybe I misread the previous post above, but I swear it said, "I'm going to use this [model] to make a bitmap."...Argh, brain hurting.

The Michigan thing is an extruded spline with an outline for the inner white stroke line, not bitmap .psd

It needs to be weathered up a bit

You can do something similar with Rayfire Trace function too:
