Maxunderground news unavailable

distribute on a plane

I am in a big shit..

This is the how it looks now :

I have to create asap ice bergs on a plane, I prepared 125 pieces by fracturing a box.
But now I need to distribute the whole thing:

Scatter wont work with more than 1 piece.
I tried to align along Z but mmh.. :-/
I was thinking maybe a kind of particle system with deflector but wont work because there are 125 different pieces, and could be a little overkill and time consuming.

Any idea?

try this tutorial by Neil Blevins ---

It uses Pflow and has an actual scene to use. Just switch out his objects with yours.
I used this a couple of times and it works not too bad.

Select all the objects and then run this simple snippet of Maxscript:

for i in $ do ( i.pos = [random min max, random min max, z] )

You obviously need to insert fitting values for min, max and z.
It's not ideal but it's certainly quick and easy.

thanks for the answers! it was urgent so I had to do it all per hand, difficult to create a random scene actually.
But I will need to do it again some times so good, I will try your tips,
