displacement + matte

I need to render a plane as a matte object WITH a displacement map on it, using either MR or scanline (can't use vray) so it cuts sombe geometry sitting on it.

Is there any way to use a matte material wih displacement or fore an object to have negative alpha?

use the displacement modifier, and put the displacement on the actual object and not in the texture
