Are displacement maps exportet in obj files?
show user profile  DieDame
Hello guys,
I am doing a project that will be exportet as an obj file and loaded to after effects element 3D.
I was wondering if OB files save displacement and bump map information? Or do i have to create the effect with the displacement modifier? (I would rater not do that to keep the polygon count low).

Thanks for your responses.

No it doesn't save in the OBJ file itself, but you can save material with it, and thus maps also.

Thanks for the answer!
Do they export by default when i export materials or do i have to check certain options so it works?

No they do not export at default, you have to set it up, and correctly, the map path, format, resolution etc.

Please note that I don't work much with After Effects. If I do I only use renders, and layers to get the job done. So I only answered the part, when you wan't to export maps with OBJ.
