Dirt-ifying a non-UVed object's texture?
show user profile  Fast_Learner
I'm looking for a quick and dirty way to grunge up a shiny metal object that is beyond my unwrapping skill. Does anyone have any suggestions for this that involves minimal plugins? I need the dirt to look good even though the textures are procedural. Any help would be much appreciated.

Is this the sort of thing you mean?

I used a blend material here.

Material 1 - brushed metal
Material 2 - an orange colour for the (ahem) rust
Mask - Smoke

Depending on the variation of dirt you're after you could choose noise, or swirl for instance and play with the size.
