Well after the recent trials and tribulations as well as quite a lot of advice from here i've managed to get my demo reel online. The originals still really big but I have got a compressed version that doesnt lose too much quality.
Its fairly basic but i'm thinking its good enough to start handing to clients, then as i learn more about after effects and the likes i can always revisit it and jazz it up where neccesary.
Let me know what you think.

Reel - awesome. Audio - downbeat/inappropriate imo.
Here's the lyrics : http://dag.wieers.com/personal/lyrics/Sinnerman.php
I'd replace it with something ambient / instrumental.
Make sure whatever you use is properly licensed of course as this is commercial work.

I think the beginning is too long and I'd enclose all the information (exteriors, interiors, etc. ) on the same slide as your logo and name.
You don't have too many images, therefore I'd remove the title slides (exterior, interior etc.) - we all know what we are looking at, I believe your clients will as well. Some sections have 1 or 2 images, title slide is definitely not necessary... Separation of the work just emphasizes little work you've done in some of those areas.
I don't know if I like zoom in / zoom out everywhere. Feels a bit too much. The simpler the better in general.
Nice work.
Peace.

Thanks guys.
I'll have a play about with the music see what its like. I kinda liked this track though didnt even think about the lyrics, just liked the music.
I'll have a play about with the slides taking into account what youre saying del3d as i can see what you mean. I'll probably just have a mix up of all the different types together and see what its like and take the zoom off some, though probably not all.

Amazed by the quality of those greenhouse shots.
Agreed with Del about the subtitles, if anything i`d overlay them onto the images as they roll. Same with the Services screen, i`d drop that and if necessary overlay the info onto the content. Next thing was the whole thing could be crammed into 30 seconds to 1 minute at most imo, and be as if not more effective. The zoom inouts are nice and simple imo although i wouldn`t have them stop i`d just have each fade into the next for continuity.
You`re obviously very good at what you do mate really impressed.

Very nice stuff. I agree with the above. Especially the zooms stopping before fading out.

Ok got another version on its way with some quick amendments though need to wait for vimeo to ok it before i can post it.
Basically ive taken out the whole services slide as i suppose they will know what i can do from looking at the slides, and if they pique their interest i can go into more detail on the phone etc.
Got rid of all the slides saying what the subject is, and instead just mixed everything up slide wise.
Ive kept the song as i do quite like it though if enough folk were to say they werent keen i may rethink it.
Ive still got the zooms though ive toned some down, taken 1 or 2 out, and have them zooming right till they fade out.
Havent got it down to anywhere near 30s mind you. Ive taken a fair few slides out but its still coming in at 1:30. The only other thing would be to trim the slides down a fair bit or alter their duration which at the minute is 4 seconds i think each.
Cheers for the help.

I loved your work, but.
I hated the music, I had to turn it off. I hate the zooms. I'd rather have very slow panning zooms, yours are too sudden and didn't work for me.
Basically, loved your work, didn't really like the reel. Sorry :(
On the plus side, you can always change the video, and your rendering skills are great.

No worries, id rather have honest opinions so i can improve the thing.
Though both things are in the second draft so best not to watch that one, at least until i have another bash at it. Although the zooms have been toned down. I'll need to try a few different tracks tommorow and see if i like them and maybe change the track, though i do have a soft spot for that track.
Maybe some Black Betty!!

Well taken, sir!
We do lots of promotional videos at work that use stills. Slow zooms with a bit of pan seem to work best, mix up pan, slow zoom in, pan, slow zoom out, it seems to be nicest on the eyes this way.
I can't wait to see the final version!

Same comments here.....If the moves are constant speed with no ease/stopping I doubt there would be a problem with the amount of zoom. Overlay the titles on the images, sorted.
I didn't have sound :)

I find it very boring and there's no additional value in animating a reel like this. You got great content but the I'd prefer a static site watching your stills then getting seasick from zoomin in and out. If you want to present it in motion, make sure you got motion content.
Even without having to rerender everything, you can cameramap your final renders onto the original models and move it a couple of degress so you get parallax. Or with the integration shots, animate a making off of it like exposing all the beauty passes and masks you used.
And do something about the layout for your text at the end. (tip: don't fade out at the end, if someone wants to contact you he shouldnt have to scroll back when the movie's done to find your whereabouts)
