How to delete duplicate splines
show user profile  Artie
Hey there,

after exporting a bunch of vector shapes form Adobe Illustrator, i've found out the splines have doubled themselves. I'm looking for an automatic solution to this issue because it'd be tedious to delete the duplicates one by one.

Illustrator to max can seem a little tricky but its just because it is...

Duplicates are caused by strokes and fills on your vectors. Check there is no stroke or fill on them.

When you live trace, some modes will make duplicates and fill the background white as well behind the traced object. This causes duplicate lines as well. Select the shapes you want and...

ctrl-x to cut them
ctrl-a to select all then Del
ctrl-v to paste the shapes you wanted to keep back in.

Then export as a .ai3 legacy format and then import into max.

Pseudo Script might work like...

- center pivot of all splines
- add all splines to an array
- loop through all splines and compare againsted each other - splines with coincident pivot points are identical.

Just delete one and remove it from the array and move on to the next.
