Cylindrify modifier
show user profile  Garp
Possibly another useless doodle. You tell me.

Cylindrify is similar to the Spherify modifier, except that it works only in the local XY plane instead of the 3 dimensions.

Grab it here.

i certainly wouldn't call that useless! that's a great little trick. although i have to wonder if there's a way to make it a button in epoly not a separate modifier? it would be quicker. in any case, garp is god again.

if it maintained the same length of the edges it could be used to make partial circles.... or simply allow the gizmo to have a hemisphere setting like the sphere primitive in 2010.

I have an idea (and an almost complete spec) for a script for interactively setting and calculating image dimensions, including inch/cm conversion, dpi, megapixels, ratios, diagonals etc...
I always need it when setting the render size for my stock images.

Do you people feel like you would use something like that?
More important, would Garp feel like doing it? :P

I just downloaded this script today and have used it about 20 times. This is the best thing since sliced bread. Great job!!!!

anything less than 'teapottify' will fail to impress me much :]

but seriously, isn't there already something that conforms your current mesh to the one you pick ?

melting ur brainz!

Thats just 'replace' and its litterally a switch from one mesh to another. no gizmo, no influence spinner

There are minimum requirements for stock-photo sizes, there are DPI standards for different purposes of printing, there are inches and centimeters and pixels, paper sizes...

This would make it much faster, interactive, everything you need can be locked down, you can input or drag a spinner.

Additionally, there could be presets for stuff like standard paper sizes, standard monitor resolutions, dimension ratios...

After you're done, you can copy it to your max render dimension, photoshop image info etc...

It's easily done in maxscript.
