G-H-E-T-T-O! + What they said ^

If you used an AMDX6 to render this image and it took 6Hrs, I'm sticking to Intel.

Hello:

I'm on the fence between telling most of you to go fuck yourselves for your non-constructive critique or playing it cool and realizing harsh critique comes from lifeless introverts who can get away with it because they are online ... or a mix of the two and just realize I have more work to do. Which is fine because I know that ... and I appreciate the time each of you gave so I can improve.

It's a hard thing not to receive criticism. it's like a child always told that he is great by his parents and not given a chance to be told by someone unbiased ... or someone(S) in multitude for a proper alignment of the craft.

I love what I do and I venture to get better ... and thank you all. Each and every one of you ... for your comments be they polite or unnecessarily rude. The bottom line is, being a man of the world, I grew up to know how to properly give crtique and I can only feel sorry for you who haven't matured yet.

But like my art skills... I will improve because I want to and take your words to build a better image next time. I hope you take what I said ... and improve in yourself as well.

being a man of the world, - if you though this was cruel then get ready, "the world" will throw worse things at you.

From your first post it just seemed like you were showing off, and the guys wanted to let you know that you shouldn't show off with that.
Taking some models and objects from websites and placing them in a scene isn't something to be so proud of. If you really want to benefit from this then tell us what is your final goal, what is your personal contribution to the scene and be ready to accept everything, you will find yourself in situations where you work a few days on a model or a scene and you think it looks right and then everybody tells you it sucks, happens to everyone, the wise thing to do is accept it and try it again from scratch if you want to get better at it.

My personal opinion:
The lightning is poor, the background is low resolution, the materials used on the bike are awful, the composition has no sense, (what have bikes and elegant lady shoes in common?)
All the elements are in focus, you don't know what to look at first and overall it is overexposed. And why would you use After Effects for a still Image? isn't that for motion picture?

Tell us where you want to go with this, show us some of your previous work (even if you think its pooor) and you will receive help for sure, don't give up.

edit: and why on EARTH would you choose that girl? if i remember correct there are quite a few beautiful women on this planet to choose from

What absolute drivel.

You're going to get harsh criticism and a lot of will NOT be constructive. Welcome to the internet. If you want to improve, then by all means start asking questions instead of getting all high and mighty acting like you are willing to learn. If you were willing to learn you may have started out your thread with a Critique's welcome or at least a mild introduction. So far your initial post looks like "Hey look at this. URL URL URL!" It looks like spam. So get off your high horse and get humble.

Here's some critiques.

You stylized your photo for no reason, it doesn't give it a vintage look it makes it look like you scanned someone's poser catalog using a broken scanner.

You have some harsh lighting, there's too much saturation everywhere.

This is a still image, what in gods name did you use AE for?

For claiming to use VRAY you definitely didn't use it effectively, maybe you should break up your scene and render each element on it's own and learn how to effectively use VRAY before making a whole composition.

Either the Poser model was butchered before hand or you butchered it more. There's nothing attractive in the model. The daisy dukes look fake, the hair looks fake, the pose is horrible and her proportions are grotesque.

(\/) (°,,,°) (\/) Woop woop woop!

I completely agree. If you want to improve then you're going to have to see something tasteful from start to finish. There's nothing wrong with practising compositing, but keep it simple, know what you want to practice/learn and go at an art piece when you have something you want to make. Learn to make it. You can't polish a turd and pass it off to the French as a croissant.

He who says it cannot be done is interrupting the man doing it.
