Crazy RAM useage
show user profile  jpedleham
Howcome a 350MB Max file can chew its way through 25GB of RAM?
It seems completely disproportionate to the files contents?

Maybe the maxfile is compressed and maybe the undolevels need to be stored somewhere and so on and so forth. External assets such as textures are not saved in the maxfile either.

I think Max is also just bad at handling super-large scene files. Particularly when it's lots of individual objects.

It is a compressed file yeah i just didnt think it would need so much memory.
To be fair it is a 2 floor 80 sqft shop with all the fixtures so it kind of makes sense that it would need lots of ram but i was just surprised that it needed so much. Ive tried all the usual cleanups, multisubs, notetracks etc

I can make a 3kb Max file chew through that RAM ...
Make a sphere
Add turbosmooth
Set iterations to 10
