Crap times

Got a phone call an hour ago from my boss to tell me I've to go in Monday and pick up my things, companies in administration effective immediately. Here was me thinking I was the lucky one being kept on while others were made redundant.

God knows what's next as there's no such thing round here as visualisation jobs. Maybe time to set up myself properly instead of pocket money.

Sorry to hear this guys. I know it doesn't help, but I am waiting for the phone call, these days.

Best of luck to you all.

Aye well I think the cad side of things is my main avenue too grotey with about 13 years experience. Although I think it'll be a case of applying for anything and everything, even if it's just to get by. Unfortunately I never did get redundancy protection for the mortgage, that's the killer.

Jesus... bad news all round! To add to this... yesterday I was advised by the bossman to use up my accrued holiday days. They don't even get carried over when we enter the new year, which means the only reason he'd want me to have less, is to not pay me for them when I'm made redundant. Which, considering we're in September already, has to be pretty soon (they expire in December).

MAXFORUMS HUG.

Shit guys bad times :-( Really sorry to hear!

It seems to be a sign of the times atm.

All the best in the job hunt. If any of you guys have any e-learning/flash dev-design/project management/graphic design skills ect... My company is always looking for new talent (www.kineo.com). We have offices in Sheffield, Brighton and London in the UK. Not much 3D stuff though I'm afraid :-(

Stewart - i got redundancy protection on my mortgage when i took it out years ago. cost me a fair few £1000's over the years, and when i needed it for the 1st time last year i was informed it would be at least 90+ days until it kicked in, and it wasn't back paid, which is kinda normal. luckily i found a job within 2 months and quickly cancelled the policy, so mate, dont worry about it. you're sure to find work within 3 months im sure.

not understanding what's crap.

housing benefit + working tax credit = all day to work on what you want.

obv. if you have a family to support that's different.

keep turbosquid income under about £6k p/a & you get full state support.

then when your biz takes off (make enough dough) you lose the state support but won't need it anyway.

reducion in state support tapers off as your income increases above the threshold.
