couple of 4000 pixel images for a brochure we're putting together. A redevelopment of a hotel on a cliff top over looking the beach :) (front and rear elevations)

Congrats, liking the little details such as people in windows, birds on roofs etc.

The car in the top render looks like its reflecting just about everything in existence though.

Nice looking images. a couple of crits for you though. in the first image, the shadows seem a little off. the people on the right have a shadow trailing behind and long and the person on the left has a shadow that looks like it is almost next to them. In the second image, the person by the gate has a pretty sharp shadow and the person on the bike has none. other then that, good job.

Look closer npcph, those ppl are low poly meshes, not photoshop cut and paste, and I'm sure Strat has lit this with a direct light /sun so there's no way the shadows could be 'off'...

In the 1st image, the person on the left's shadow is caught on the wall, whereas the ppl on the right's shadow (excuse the grammar hehe) has only the pavement to catch it.

Same goes for the 2nd image - cyclist has a fence behind him while the couple has a solid wall.

I will shove my tail between my legs and hang myself with it if those are cut and paste ppl, cos in that case Strat u wud've chosen real images and not have the plasticy look.. but then u wud've had to correct the lighting per person.

Other than that, lovely stuff, true about the reflection on the car though...
The overall spec bloom is just superb!

Sells the building, shows off ur talent, that's what it's all about right :D

Great work Strat.

What are the render times.
What machine ;)

Like the second one a lot.

Vray camera, sun and sky is it.

Looks great Strat. How did you do the foreground trees in the second one?

Although excellent work, looks a bit more CG-ish than your work usually does.
Less time?

okay, i can see where the person in the first one could be closer to the wall, but in the second one, i don't see any shadow at all from the biker at all.

the car in the first image is waaaay too shiny eer uh, reflective.
love the lighting mood in the second one, but are those two people making out/tongue wrestlin' in the bottom center of the 2nd image?
:D

thanks guys for the comments :)

The client wasn't necessarily into a photo real shoot, just some thing happy and blingy and colourful!
It was great as the breif allowed us to have a play and produce some moody pictures.

Dave - agreed, car is way too reflective :p

cdc - Tenby

npcph - saj is correct, i just inserted peeps and a sunlight and hit render. and if you look closely, there is a shadow from the cyclist on the immediate floor.

inxa - cheers mate. rendered in c4d and vray (normal camera and sky), oct core mac. @ 4000 pixels it took 45 mins for the gi solution and 1/2 hour for the final render.

JP Jr - VB visual trees.

horizon - yeah, besides the fact there isn't much photographic input to help us out, we didn't go for photo real, hence the cg trees, cars and axyz plastic peeps. we just wanted some bright eye catching pics for the brochure.

$$T-bone$$ - that tonsil hockey couple? no comment :P
