copying carvings in stone work
show user profile  Dmaxer
Ive not been in the mood or had much time to work on my battersea project this last few weeks or more , anyway Im back on it now and would like to copy some of the stone carvings in one of the halls , below is a picture of what I have been tryin to copy but so far everything I try seems to be coming out look a bit of a mess ,by the way Ive been tryin to do this with splines then converting to ploys but I hope there must be a better way of doing this , I dont want to use a displacment map as I want to keep the face count as low as pos .

the main part of the stone work is easy to do , the bit Im have probs with it the curly things in the corners Im just not sure what would be the best way to go about making these parts ?
sorry the reff pics a bit small but its all I got to work on right now.

could any of you guy have a look and give me any ideas you may have ?

once again thanks for reading guys :)

also heres a small update on the project just incase anyone wanted to see how far Ive got .as you can see Ive added more detail down in the floor wells also been working on the textures.

From what I can see I'd just use a tapering helix spline make it fat enough to intersect itself and stick a sphere on the end to round the end off
