Look at constraint combined with following a path
I am trying to animate a model engine in 3ds max. I have used hierarchical relationships and look-at constraints to make the wheels and pistons work properly together. But as soon as I attach the engine to a path, those components go out of kilter and only meet up again twice in a 360 degree circular trip. I think this is because of the look at constraints I have used to get the pistons working. Has anyone got any ideas of how I can get the pistons to work and the engine to follow a path all at the same time? Many thanks.

are you using helper (dummy) objects to link everything together? it helps.
make sure all geometry has had it's scale reset to zero.
attach any objects together as one that don't need to be seperate.
link every dummy to one main dummy and call it something like, "MASTER" and use this master dummy to assign your path constraint to.
