Confining an array to a defined area, possible?
show user profile  CBn3D
I'd like to create an array of objects on x & y 10x10 without going back to delete the excess that go outside a circle.

Is it possible to create an array of objects so that they don't go over the amount needed to fill an area such as a circle?

Redundant, I know

Through scripting, yes. However, you could use an already-available maxscript to scatter objects inside of a predefined area (defined using say a spline shape), then array that result using something like Itoo's Clone modifier in XYZ directions. Also the ParaArray system can do this, but the learning curve will take a while. If you need this done quickly, and don't have time to learn the ParaArray system, then look into scripting. There is probably a maxscript over at Scriptspot.com that can do this already.
