Colour fade

How do I make a model's colours fade and become invisible slowly?

I can't do this in the materials modifier as the character is a snapshot mesh of the real thing, and fading the colours would make the orginal model in the scene fade too.

I have tried to do it in the track view curve editor, however all I am getting is an instant dissapearance of the model.

any ideas of how I can make the snapshot model fade and become invisible slowly?

Cheers :)

Is this because you are using Mental Ray? mental ray doesnt support the visiblity track.

The way you could have a go at is animating the opacity value of the material via the material editor.

Either that or render the fading mesh as a separate pass and fade it in post production

Just when one looks at the complicated solution, the solution actually is so simple! Used scanline renderer and worked brilliantly!

Thanks :)
