Colleges

Hey, I'm about to graduate and I'm trying to decide where to go to study 3ds max. I eventually want to get into games. Any suggestions on colleges/universities?

BTW I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section

This might be the wrong section, there's a powerful anti-College bias on this here forum.

School of Hard Knocks!!

:P

I would honestly suggest studying subjects that compliment a 3d package, and/or life in the game dev business... and learning Max/ZBrush/Photoshop/etc.. on your own time.

The best learning material you could possibly come across for computer programs is from online sources.

Study business (I wish I would have), traditional art (what I studied), art history, etc... at a University.

Less expensive, and worth more.. how could you refuse? :)

I'm taking a 490 level course on creating Video games, we're using the source engine. I had to teach my teacher how to get textures into it.

College+3D = fail.

at least here.

Im going to a danish college like thing called "Game It College" where all lessons are based on game development.

But you properly don't care, as i can see you live in Brazil.

lol i'm giving you the standard warning here, if you say something stupid by accident or don't know it's stupid, ignore what toldaddy, killerbee, bolteon etc say,

and about colleges, bolts isn't here yet (or is he the one that likes them) but i'm going to say whoever it was's opinion and suggest DAVE school. (digital art and visual effects i think) since i've posted that it'll show in the side banner if you reload about 10 times.

also poop, are you 59 or 20? and why did u say you were 59 when u registered?

edit:nvm got3d is too powerful an advertiser.

Alright thanks for the suggestions guys, I'm thinking about not going straight into college and instead taking some time to work and make some money. Ill just try to play with 3dsmax whenever I can to get better.

P.S. Sorry for taking so long to reply I'm really busy right now with school

Also how do you know i live in Brazil?

I'm going to RIT in the fall, but that's for animation not game development.

I think it's best to learn max on your own, and I think even if you go to school for it you might still need to learn all of it on your own if it's anything like my former school.
When I started at the school I already had way more 3d skills then my teacher, and I really sucked back then lol.

I say study something more directed on the theory of things and learn to use programs with the help of your good friends: the internets and google, oh and MF of course..:-D.

I would say something like traditional art if you want drawing skills etc or a game design education that's not mainly focussed on what button to push to get the wanted result but more the theory side of things.
