Cloth simulation always looks flimsy
show user profile  cartwright_mj
I very new to cloth. I've spent 2 days trying to get a cape to drag across the fllor and also a t shirt to follow a running character. A degree of success but I've tweaked all the settings. Usually stretching is the issue and also, half decent attempts, the cloth acts very light and flimsy , bouncing around. Any tips, tricks, tutorials please? Thank you

Scale makes a huge difference with physics, and especially with cloth. If there's a scale factor in your Cloth sim, try altering it.

This is a pretty advanced tutorial with some methods that I've never seen used elsewhere. Certainly the results are extremely good:

Cheers Nik/Mike

Nik, may I ask where/ how I find the cloth scale. If its the one in the cloth rollot, (cm/unit=2.54) I simply made sure these matched my system unit set up. Is it the rollout or the system setup I should adjust?

I messed around with Marvelous Designer quite a while ago and the thing that blew me away about it was that it just worked, the solutions in for example Max and C4D etc work but they are so protracted and horrible to work with, as well as slow, Marvelous Designer is fast and really easy to work with, takes all the pain out of it. I know my comment doesn't help, i just wish all cloth sims worked like that..
