Cloth
show user profile  rob@dynamic
Hi all me again,
Right i'm having problems with the cloth modifies, basically i want to make a bed cover. i am doing this by drawing out a spline adding a garmet maker then cloth modifier. this works fine however the cover is wafer thin. is there a way to bulk the cover out?

I have tryed extruding the splice ect.. before adding garment and cloth, however this just seems to keep crashing max.

any ideas.

many thanks

The way I usually make a bed cover is to model a basic bed shape of how I want the cover to fall (keep it low poly) include pillow extrusions... make it unyielding in reactor. Make a plane above it amd move its verts to concentrate around the areas you want it to bend (ie folding over edge of bed and pillows). Add a cloth modifier to it then run the sim. (Will need to tweak cloth settings)

After you have a desired shape, change it to a poly and move verts of cover to make it lie better, then add a shell modifier, then a meshsmooth.
