| changing the mesh and keeping the morphs? |

i have a mesh rigged skinned and morphed (face expressions) and i was wondering if there is any way i can change some face details and the morphs could follow my changes and to apply correctly? while changing some face details i won't add or remove any vertex or edge...so it will be like another morph...but can i syncronize it with the ones i have already to apply to the new face? maybe there is a script that can do that??

There is a manual way, it might take sometime tho' ... 1) Create all the changes you want to your model. 2) go to each morph target's model, add a morpher modifier to it, select the model from above as a morph target and set the value to 100. 3) reload all targets.

zman: i did the step one and two but when i try to repick morph targets for the main mesh...it doesn't work...it doesn't allow me to pick targets that have a morph modifier added to them...so what do i do next?

not sure if some dependency loop was created or something ... just right click the morph targets and convert them to editable poly, should solve it.

if he made topology changes(added or removed a vertex) it wont. read my post on the thread i linked, its pretty much exactly what you need.

i didn't remove any vertex... and i did what u said...convert to edit poly the morph target and added to the main mesh morph modifier. the problem is that is not deforming right....at 0 and 100 the morph is the same, at 50 is changing to the original morph ( what i mean is...if i have a morph with opened lips, after i changed some face details from the original face...this morph at 50 is making my new face look as my old face afecting not only the lips but all the face). i don't know if i explained well enough so i hope u understand. i know daz uses this system..and i was wondering how they do it. they made from that victoria a lot of diferent characters and the face expressions was applying to all correctly...so how they do it and if it is possible in 3ds max that too? Mr_Stabby: i will try that too.

Mr_Stabby: interesting system...and more complex...i will test it tomorrow...i'm really curious how it works. i already have 30 morph targets and they weren't made this way so if your idea works i will probably have to recreate the morphs :( but would be a good solution for the future and i also learned something new and thanks for that. :)

I've no idea whats going on there ... U can try somthing simpler -
1) go back to your scene with the original model and all the working morph targets. 2) clone it aside and remove the morpher modifier 3) make the changes you wanna make (without removing or adding vertextes/edges obviusly) 4) select the original model, pick the new model as a new morph target and set it to 100.
Does it work now ?

ok...i think i found a way...i did all kind of tests all day long and i think i found a way... i apply edit poly over the morph modifier and make the changes that i want then i go down to the morph modifier and i saw it keeps my changes and the morphs are applyed to the new mesh details...i'm so happy...
zman...i just tried your method too...and it works too and now i understand it...u wanted me to have my new mesh in my morph targets so i can combine it with my old morphs...clever. so thanks...now i have 2 methods and tomorrow i will try mr stabby's method too...just for my curiosity. so thanks guys :). have a nice night.
