Sometimes cgi can looks real, other times reality can look like shitty cgi
show user profile  Bobbyboy
Now granted a lot of cgi is present in this video, but if it wasn't for the making of I would have assumed the whole thing was cgi, and not very good at that imo (hope no one here worked on it, if so I apologize before hand :S)

Seriously, so much work must have gone into filming the car and why? wouldn't it have just been easier and look just as good to do it cgi?

just cause a lot of work ever goes into something doesn't mean it'll ever be good.

A lot of directors/production companies also love to spend the money on a big shoot with expensive cameras and lights and kit and flying out to South Africa/LA instead then 'fixing in post' ;)

And spending a lot of money on physical things on a shoot probably seems a lot more legit to an agency/client as they can come along for the ride and see all the shiny shit and have a nice meal in the evening compared with paying some geeks to work for 6 weeks and showing them mysterious grey previews.

Or generally being ignorant in what can (or can't) be done more efficiently in CG.

Sometimes they're awesome though and know what they're doing. :)

It would help if they would stick with feasible camera angles. You cant take a camera lift and make it go 75mph while twisting and turning and shit, and even if you could it doesn't look natural at all and it just ruins the whole thing.

Also, most of the angles in the beginning of this do NOT flatter this car at all.

Overall, an epic failure, poor cg work or not.

I didn't actually watch it before as you said it was shite. It does look so weird!

I like how they credited everyone though

I thought it was pretty cool. Looked a bit ropey in places but not as bad as you guys had made it out to be. Pretty interesting way of going about a project, enjoyed the breakdown.

I watched it full screen. Gave me a similar result to some of the Borne films, a headache and made me want to throw up a little bit, I don't understand the need to jolt around all over the place.

The worst part was the shadow under the car in a lot of outdoor shots.
It made everything look cg.
I thought the RC helicopter was cool.

sorry if I gave you guys the wrong impression, it is worth watching, but more for the break down than the finished product. They did some pretty creative stuff and you have to give them credit for it, but the end result is pretty bad imo, whether that is all down to the cgi or not I dunno, but a lot of time and money went into it so it is kinda sad. Very cool helicopter shots though :D
