Casual gamers - Mechwarrior Online

Anyone here play Mechwarrior Online? I've always loved video games, but not had much free time in recent years. I had a few hours this christmas and I stumbled across this free-to-play FPS in which you stop around in a huge humanoid war machine with lasers and cannons. There's a lot of tactical and strategic depth it and you really can play for free without suffering from being sidelined by fee paying players who get more whistles and bells. I'm more than slightly hooked, though I'll never be able to devote regular and solid time to playing it.

The best things about it are the mech lab - in which you custom build your own Battle Mech, using credits you earn through playing. The game also has a lot of pedigree due to the tabletop wargame and paper based roleplay games from which it is developed.

I seriously had a dream this last night that I decided to pop in MechWarrior3 for old time sake. I love that they are back in the cockpit in MW online. Not enough time to play though. :(

As a fan of the old Battletech pen and paper games back in the late 80's and early 90's, I will have to look into this. I was not aware of any games out there recently that used the mechs I am familiar with. I still have some miniatures from back then. I think they are the Atlas, Battlemaster, and Awesome.

You'll be pleased to know that all three of those are playable!
